NGO Working Group on Human Rights Education and Learning (NGO WG on HREL) is a working group of the NGO Committee on Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland. It aims to ensure NGO participation in the processes of global policy making on human rights education in relation to UN institutions, principally the UN Human Rights Council, through the following activities:
- NGO networking, information sharing and coordination regarding human rights education;
- Advocacy for human rights education;
- Transmission of information, proposals and experiences of NGOs on human rights education to global policy-making processes, particularly the UN Human Rights Council;
- Consultation with Human Rights Council Member States on resolutions relevant to human rights education;
- NGO joint statements on human rights education;
- Working on the right to education in connection with human rights education and other issues including the rights of women, children, indigenous peoples and minorities, as they may be relevant to the context of human rights education.
